How miraDry Works
The miraDry System uses a breakthrough technology based on microwave energy
for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.
Microwave energy, which lies between radio-frequency (RF) and lasers in the
electromagnetic spectrum,
is the ideal choice for treating axillary hyperhidrosis.
The miraDry System:
- efficiently reaches tissue depths of 2-5mm
- relies on non-invasive energy transmission (energy source does not need to be in direct contact with the skin)
- is optimized to automatically target the dermal-fat interface region
- accommodates a range of skin thicknesses
The miraDry System concentrates energy absorption along the dermal-fat interface (where virtually all of the
sweat glands reside1) while minimizing absorption in the dermis and deeper tissue.
The miraDry System takes advantage of the difference in dielectric properties between the dermal and fat layers
to create standing wave absorption patterns that selectively target the region where the sweat glands reside.

- Focused energy delivery to the dermal-fat interface region
- Energy becomes concentrated along interface (Focal Energy Zone) due to constructive interference from reflected energy
- Heat generated from energy begins to expand omnidirectionally
- Continuous hydro-ceramic cooling system protects dermis, and keeps Heat Zone at level of sweat glands
- The end result is thermolysis of the sweat glands
- Because the sweat glands do not regenerate, the procedure leads to a lasting solution
- Deeper tissue not affected
